“Ceito is a innovative organization geared towards the development & reimagination of society. We establish local & global networks to enhance the mind and vision of humankind.” - Calez
Born and raised in Chicago, Calez is an independent artist whose work blends music, intellect, and cultural awareness with a deep sense of community and intention.
He first gained national attention in 2012 with his debut mixtape Kid With Raps as part of the former collective 2008ighties / Brkf$t Club, attracting recognition from outlets such as Complex, 2DopeBoyz, and XXL. In collaboration with 2DopeBoyz, he released Too Broke Tape in 2013, followed by Ceito in 2014. His early momentum was further recognized in the Chicago Sun-Times cover story “Fresh Faces of Chicago.”
Calez’s music—shaped by spirituality, lived experience, and personal insight—has been performed at major cultural festivals including SXSW, NXNE, CMJ, and A3C. His 2016 release BABY was named one of Lyrical Lemonade’s Top 50 Projects of the Year, marking a pivotal moment in his artistic evolution.
Today, Calez has established himself as a self-sustained independent artist focused on longevity rather than moments. His work has evolved beyond traditional releases into audio-driven projects, reflective writing, and music that explores clarity, timing, emotional intelligence, and awareness. Drawing from astrology as a framework—not prediction—he approaches creativity as a way to understand cycles, decision-making, and internal states.
Across music and insight-based work, Calez remains committed to creating space for others, maintaining relevance through thoughtfulness, and contributing meaningfully to culture. His artistry is grounded, observant, and intentional—built to last rather than chase trends.
